Prof. Michelle MIAO, Assistant Professor michellemiao

Prof. Miao joined the Faculty in July 2016.  She teaches in the areas of criminal law and Chinese legal system. Among Prof. Miao’s research interests are the intersections between the domains of criminology, human rights, socio-legal studies and international law.  Before entering CUHK Law, Prof. Miao was a British Academy Postdoc Fellow at University of Nottingham’s School of Law and a Global Research Fellow at New York University School of Law.  … more


Prof. Benoit MAYER, Assistant Professor benoitmayer

Prof. Mayer joined the Faculty in July 2016.  He is also a Research Associate at McGill University’s Hans & Tamar Oppenheimer Chair in Public International Law, a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL), an Associate Member at the National University of Singapore’s Asia-Pacific Centre for Environmental Law, and a Research Fellow at the Earth System Governance project.   … more

Mr. Khilani joined the Faculty in August 2016.  He is a commercial, banking and finance lawyer with over 25 years of experience in finance and commercial transactions working with leading local and international law firms in Hong Kong.  Mr. Khilani teaches Commercial Law, Business and the Law in Hong Kong, Corporate Finance and Banking Finance.  … more

Mr. Carter CHIM, Professional Consultant tingcheongcarterchim

Mr. Chim joined the Faculty in September 2016, he is currently a practising barrister and a member of Denis Chang’s Chambers.  Prior to joining CUHK, he was a legal counsel in the Competition Commission (Hong Kong).  Mr. Chim is a specialist in competition law and he also has considerable experience in public law and criminal law.


noamnokedProf. Noam NOKED, Assistant Professor

Prof. Noked joined the Faculty in December 2016.  His research focuses on tax policy, particularly in the area of international taxation.  He holds a doctoral degree in law (S.J.D.) from Harvard Law School.  He also holds bachelor degrees in law and accounting from Tel Aviv University, and has passed the CPA examinations.  Prof. Noked has been admitted to practice in New York and Israel, and clerked at the Supreme Court of Israel.  He has also worked as tax lawyer in the Hong Kong office of Baker McKenzie, advising companies and individuals on various tax matters.

Mr. Fisher joined the Faculty in December 2016.


 Paul SchmidtMr. Paul SCHMIDT, Professional Consultant

Mr. Schmidt joined the Faculty recently in January 2017.  Mr. Schmidt has extensive experience in all aspects of PRC intellectual property practice, both contentious and non-contentious.  He is experienced in managing large trademark portfolios, including Apple’s and Warner Bros.’, and he has helped a number of foreign brand owners achieve PRC “well-known” trademark status.  He has overseen the acquisition of very high-profile marks and directed the recovery of numerous stolen marks.  With respect to enforcement, Mr. Schmidt has successfully prosecuted numerous administrative, civil and criminal IP cases in the PRC.   … more
